A website feedback tool your clients can actually use
Click any button, heading or sentence on a live page and leave a comment. Each one arrives with a screenshot, the page address, browser and screen size, so nobody has to ask “which bit?”
Back to running, without the guesswork.
Sports injury clinic by Ambridge village green. Same-week appointments, evenings until 8pm.

The same feedback, two ways
On the left, a typical feedback email. On the right, the same notes left by clicking the page.
Hi both, a few things from me and Dave
- the button at the top looks wrong on my phone
- can the green be a bit more green?
- prices are out of date
- the about page doesn’t feel right
- Dave says the menu “jumps” when you scroll, not sure which page
Screenshot attached (sorry it’s a photo of the screen)

This went up to £60 in September.
Menu jumps down about an inch when I start scrolling.
Get feedback before the site goes live
Staging behind a password, a build on localhost, an intranet on the VPN. If your reviewer can open it in their browser, they can comment on it.
The How’s that? extension works inside the reviewer’s own browser session, so there’s nothing to deploy, no snippet to add and no IP allowlist. Proxy-based tools fetch your page from their own servers, which can’t get past a password or a VPN.
How it works on staging, localhost and VPN sites
Clients who won’t install anything can use a review link instead. That route goes through our servers, so it only works on sites we can reach.
What comes with every comment
The reviewer types one sentence. You get everything you’d otherwise have to ask for.
- The element
- Stored several ways, so the pin finds its button or sentence again after classes change or the copy is edited. If it can’t, the comment is listed for you to re-attach. None go missing.
- A screenshot
- Taken by the browser itself, so it shows exactly what the reviewer saw. Password fields are blacked out before upload.
- Page, browser and screen

Your client does three things
No account to create, nothing to install, no training call.
Opens the link you sent
The review link opens their site with a comment bar along the side.
Clicks what they mean
A heading, an image, a price, a word in a paragraph. The four corners show exactly what’s selected.
Says what’s wrong
They type a sentence and press Comment. You get a notification and a pinned thread you can reply to.
Teammates use the browser extension instead, which also reaches staging behind a password, localhost and VPN-only sites.
Feedback goes where the work happens
Comments stay in How’s that? as threads you can reply to and resolve. You can also send them on.
Linear
Turn a comment into a Linear issue with the screenshot, element and browser details attached, or link an existing one. Replies sync both ways, and closing the issue resolves the comment.
Your coding agent
Claude Code and other MCP clients can sign in, read open comments with their screenshots, fix the code and reply in the same thread your client sees. They can reply and resolve, but can’t pin new comments or change what anyone wrote. You can revoke access at any time.

I built How’s that? after the feedback tool we paid for couldn’t open our password-protected staging site. It runs in your own browser so that can’t happen, and it’s priced so a small studio doesn’t have to think twice about it.

Questions people ask first
Does anything need adding to my website?
No. There’s no script or snippet to install, and nothing on your site changes. Reviewers comment through the browser extension, which runs in their own browser. If you want parts of a page blacked out in screenshots, you can optionally add a data-annotate-mask attribute to them.
Which browsers does it work in?
The extension runs in Chrome and Edge. Anyone on Safari, or on a phone, can comment through a review link.
What can the extension see?
It only switches on for sites you’ve added to a project. On those sites it reads the page to place pins and take screenshots when someone leaves a comment. It doesn’t record browsing history or anything on other sites.
Who handles our data?
We do, with a small number of service providers such as Microsoft Azure for file storage. The privacy notice lists every one, and paid plans include a data processing agreement. You can also export any project’s comments and threads as JSON from its settings.
What happens after 14 days?
We remind you a few days before. If you don’t pick a plan, your workspace moves to the Free plan: your most recent project stays active, the others are archived: still readable and exportable, but closed to new comments until you upgrade. Nothing is deleted and nothing is charged.

Shortened it to “Book online” so it fits on one line. How’s that?
Spot on, thanks.
